Description
“The Trouble With Being Myself” is Gray’s third studio album and was released in 2003 with the lead single “When I See You”. The album is radical and exciting as we are used to by now from the singer; her sound is recognizable as always with a voice that you can pick out of thousands. On the second track of the album, “It Ain’t The Money”, she’s accompanied by rapper PharoaheMonch and Beck on guitar and backing vocals. The album shows Gray as one of the best female singer-songwriters at the time. “The Trouble With Being Myself” is funky and soulful and one of 2003’s most underrated albums. Macy Gray again shows she belongs in a league of her own.
