“Monk’s Dream” is the first LP Thelonious Monk released on Columbia Records in 1963. The Monk Quartet here consist of on the tenor sax Charlie Rouse, on the bass John Ore and on the drums Frankie Dunlop and of course the man himself on the piano and was recorded at the Columbia 30th Street Studio in New York City in November 1962. This CD version is the Columbia Masterpieces version remastered with 4 bonus tracks. The bonus tracks are different takes from “Monk’s Dream”, “Body & Soul”, “Bright Mississippi” and “Blue Bolivar Blues”. “Monk’s Dream” was reviewed with 5 stars in the American “Down Beat” jazz magazine in the 1963 march issue.
