His debut album was released in 1967 under his actual name, Al Greene. After this release the last “e” would soon disappear and his career was aimed for the stars. “Back Up Train gives the listener a quick look in the future as this album has all of Green’s distinctive vocal elements though in a more rough form. By the time Green’s mega-hit “Let’s Stay Together” was released a few years later, “Back Up Train” was a highly sought after album.
