Ragtime and Piedmont blues man Blind Willy McTell (also known as and recorded under at least 12 nicknames!!! such as Georgia Bill for OKeh Records, Barrelhouse Sammy for Atlantic Records, Pig ‘n’ Whistle Red for Regal Records, Blind Sammy for Columbia Records, Red Hot Willie Glaze for Bluebird Records and so on) was one of the great blues musicians in the 1920’s and 1930’s based in Atlanta, Georgia. Blind Willie displayed an extraordinary range on his twelve-string guitar playing the Piedmont fingerpicking style. McTell influenced many of today’s artists such as The Allman Brothers, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Taj Mahal to name a few.
