The blue-eyed Philly soul of Hall & Oates gets a real Motown treatment on the duo’s first live album. As well as the regular Hall & Oates band, there are three keyboardists and a six-piece horn section taking part on ‘Live At The Apollo’ added with ‘Temptations’ members David Ruffin and Eddie Kendrick. The album kicks off with a great medley that includes “Get Ready”, “My Girl”, “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg”, and “The Way You Do the Things You Do”. Other highlights are “I Can’t Go For That” and “Every Time You Go Away” (covered by Paul Young who had a number one hit with it). The final track of the album is an outstanding version of one of their signature hits “Adult Education”.
