Description

Misia, born in Oporto, Portugal is a pioneer of Fado, as she followed her own path in the genre and according to media back then was “The anarchist of Fado”. Misia developed a new style and unlike the traditional way from Amalia Rodrigues and others she added “new” instruments to Fado such as bass guitar, accordion, violin and piano. Conquering the world with her so called “New Fado” she performed at prestigious venues all over the world from London, Paris, New York to Tokyo. With her 1995 album “Tanto Menos Tanto Mais” she received the Grand Prix from the Charles Cros Academy in France, previously only achieved before by Amalia Rodrigues.
