Republica were formed as a britpop and dance-act in Windsor, United Kingdom by Andy Todd and Tim Dorney. After the in Lagos, Nigeria born Samantha Sprackling, better known as “Saffron” joined the band as singer-songwriter/front woman, the band changed their course into the regions of the alternative rock, electronic and trip-hop. Three singles were released from their debut album, “Drop Dead Gorgeos”, “Bloke” and the biggest hit “Ready To Go”. In 1997 Republica toured along the European festivals such as Glastonbury in the U.K. and Pinkpop in the Netherlands. Their self-titled album Republica peaked in the U.K. Album charts at number four.
