Description
This is the first solo album for Denton, Texas, born singer-songwriter and multi- instrumentalist after breaking up with “the Family Stone” earlier that year. Originally released in the autumn of 1975, the album is pretty much a combination of the raw “Riot” funk and the “Fresh” jazzy melodies. It’s still the funky genius as we know him from his previous works. In the instrumental “Green Eyed Monster” Sly gives a lecture on how a funky keyboard sounds like. On “So Good To Me” there’s a fuzz-bass that, no doubt dropped Larry Graham‘s jaws after listening to axe-man Bobby Vega, of course with a little help from the producer, the genius Sly Stone himself . An album “as Sly as funk can be!”
