Self-titled debut album for Rockford, Illinois based power-pop/hard rock quintet recorded at Record Plant, New York. Most songs where written by lead guitarist/pianist Rick Nielsen. Although the album was favored by critics it failed to chart in the United States. (The first four albums are nowadays considered by fans and critics to be Cheap Trick‘s best works). In Japan the band began to develop a fan base and their debut album became their first Gold Record. In 1987 Big Black covered “He’s a whore” for there “Songs about fucking” album and Concrete Blonde covered “Mandocello” in 1994 for their album “Still in Hollywood”.
