When the irresistible sound of “Dance To The Music” lit up the nation’s airwaves in early 1968, it was obvious that Sly Stone‘s ‘whole new thing’ was about to blow everyone’s mind sky-high. They were pioneers of Funk-Rock which was based on Soul and R&B music combined with psychedelic elements as well as Gospel. The band consisted of black and white members, and men and women, which was not usual at that time. One of the many highlights is “Dance To The Medley”, the title track fleshed out and extended into a never heard before twelve minutes jam where the musicians get spotlighted with Larry Graham‘s crackling fuzz bass being one of the highlights of course!
