Tim Hardin was one most influential singer/songwriters from the late sixties and is well known from “If I Were A Carpenter” covered by a.o. Bobby Darin and Johnny Cash plus “Reason To Believe”, which was a huge hit for Rod Stewart. Simple Songs Of Freedom, Subtitled “The Tim Hardin Collection” was originally released in 1996 and is a compilation of his Columbia years including 5 previous unreleased tracks. All songs were recorded between 1968 and 1972 accompanied by harmonica player Don Brooks. Besides Bobby Darin‘s “Simple Song Of Freedom’ this CD contains six covers like Leonard Cohen‘s “Bird On A Wire” and others cover from Jesse Winchester, John Lee Hooker and Randy Newman.
