Description
“Rites of Passage”, this 4th album by Indigo Girls, was released in 1992. The second track “Galileo” peaked Billboard Modern Rock Tracks at #10, while the album itself went to #21 in the Billboard 200 and eventually went Gold in ’92 and even Platinum in ’94! Indigo Girls made a very powerful folk/rock album with harmonious and tender lyrics and vocals. Several artists were invited to complement the tracks: e.g. David Crosby, Lisa Germano, Martin McCarrick (Therapy?) and The Roches. Notably singer/guitarist Amy Ray herself is extraordinarily raw on her acoustic version of the Dire Straits‘ “Romeo and Juliette”. Still to this day, “Rites Of Passage” is a great catchy album and good place to start your Indigo Girls adventure!
