“Summer In The City” is recorded live at Joe‘s Pub in Manhatten in the summer of 1999. It features Joe Jackson singing and playing the piano backed by bassist Graham Maby and drummer Gary Burke. With this trio Jackson is performing several covers and playing his old songs or combining them. Joe kicks off with the Lovin’ Spoonful‘s “Summer In The City”, combines his “Fools In Love” with the Yardbirds hit “For Your Love” and brings his interpretations of Duke Ellington‘s “Mood Indigo” and The Beatles “Eleanor Rigby”. This is a stripped Joe Jackson Band bringing famous covers of the past and of course great songs from his own career in a refreshing 55 minutes.
