Description
This might very well be one of Stanley Clarke‘s most instrumentally and creatively satisfying fusion recordings. The danceable and very funky song “Basically Taps” features Clarke‘s slamming bass licks with the rhythm provided by nothing but Gregory Hine‘s tap dancing feet. On the Police-like song “Stories To Tell” Clarke teams up with drummer Stewart Copeland and guitarist Allan Holdsworth in a power trio. “I Want To Play For Ya” is an old school funky talking bass thang and the jazziest tune here is “Tradition”, a sort of a modern electric version of 50’s modern jazz where Clarke is accompanied by a rhythm section consisting of bassist James Earl and drummer Gerry Brown.
