Chris Whitley started recording this album in April 1996 and eventually released it in February 1997 as his 3rd studio album. With his first two albums still in his system Chris Whitley clearly found his musical range and the sound in which he felt comfortable. “Terra Incognita” is a rock solid album with strong tracks, combining Grunge, Rock and Country with Whitley‘s typical writing skills and carefully implemented sounds/noise (“Immortal Blues”), distorted guitars (“Power Down”). But most all, “Terra Incognita” has stood the test of time really well.
