“Passionworks” is the seventh studio album by the hard rock band Heart released in 1983 The album marks a shift in musical direction from hard rock and folk to mainstream rock This album spent 21 weeks on the U S Billboard 200 and reached No. 39. It is the first Heart album to feature Denny Carmassi and Mark Andes who had replaced longtime members Mike DeRosier and Steve Fossen.
“Passionworks” is produced by Keith Olsen gets off to an impressive start with the hit “How Can I Refuse” an arena rock jewel “Sleep Alone”, “Blue Guitar” and “Ambush” are equally likable examples of ’80s hard rock/arena rock. “Allies” is a glossy power ballad that was written by Jonathan Cain and perfect for the new direction Heart because by that time their ballads had become much more amplified.
